Every Tomkins instrument is a playable work of art.  Each of the two basses I own is truly unique....from the indigenous Australian woods to the innovative pickup arrangements.  The greenburst bass has two J-style pick-ups, but with different spacing than that used by Fender.  The orange bass features a piezo pickup positioned just past the last fret, teamed with a traditional P-bass style pickup.  Both basses are comfortably light and well-balanced.  They sound superb, and each has a one-of-a-kind leather pick guard that is a trademark of Allan Tomkins, the amazing Aussie Renaissance man who hand crafts each instrument himself.  The guitars and mandolins he builds are equally impressive in looks, sound, and playability.  I'm proud to know Allan Tomkins, and I love being able to walk on-stage with one of his fabulous basses.
